Some of you may know that I like to find inspiration when I’m designing the color schemes in the liveWELL Planner. I like to start with a theme or feeling that really means something to me or my family and our experiences. In 2017, we created color schemes based off of travel and that amazing feeling of jetting off somewhere – an escape.
It’s always such an interesting, rewarding and creative process for my husband John and I to see what we can come up with for the year. 2018 was no exception. I always reveal teasers and updates of our newest products on Instagram and Facebook first, so always check there and follow along with us!
Let’s take a look at what color schemes we have in store for you as we head into 2018 together!
The main image of the blog post helped me along in the creative process behind my 2018 theme: The Ocean. I was thinking all about those sandy and warm beaches, the relaxing sounds of waves, and the deepest parts of the sea. Take a look at the newest color schemes for 2018 below:
With a deep peacock blue and green, this color scheme reminds me of my days living in California where I’d go on field trips with my class to explore the tide pools on the rocky edges of the ocean.
They were filled with sea cucumbers and starfish all along the coast. I had never lived so near the ocean, and the whole idea of a these little pools teaming with life captured my imagination.
I’m hoping that this color scheme reminds you to explore, to try something new, to get out of your comfort zone each and every day…
When John and I got engaged, we ran off to the Caribbean for a week to let the whole idea of our new life together settle in. It was an exciting time and there was so much to do that it felt overwhelming. While we were there, we spent a lot of time at a beautiful secluded lagoon.
The colors of the sand and the blue ocean in this color scheme bring me back to that simple time… and I hope it does the same for you… reminds you that there’s more than tasks and work – that sometimes you need to take a minute to just breathe and enjoy the day.
One of my favorite things in life is looking out at the ocean from above and then diving in to see that there’s a whole world below swirling with colors and life. I think that feeling is one of the best in the world, so I designed this color scheme as a way to bring back those beautiful coral formations, parrot fish and scurrying crabs back to me throughout the year.
I hope that when you turn the page of your planner to this color scheme, it reminds you that there’s a whole world out there that you may not know about – and it’s just waiting for you to dive in.
When I found out I was pregnant with Kate I spent several long afternoons scouring the beach collecting pieces of sea glass to use to decorate her nursery. I’ve talked about this before, I know, but used the words ‘cautiously optimistic’ to describe how I felt walking down that beach with my eyes scouring for pieces of glass – we’d had such a hard time getting pregnant at all – several rounds of IVF and significant loss – but that didn’t stop me from dreaming of the baby that would be my Kate.
Sea glass now reminds me of how strong I was (even if I didn’t even know it at the time). Hope buoyed me through that time. I’m hoping that sea glass, which starts out as simple glass but tumbles along the ocean floor – scraped and battered into something beautiful, reminds you too, that there are beautiful things ahead.
AND introducing our NEW liveWELL Daily Planner! For this planner, we will have our first-ever neutral color scheme:
I moved around a lot growing up (11 times in my first 18 years). Interestingly, though, the place I lived the longest was Aberdeen, Scotland – I lived there twice actually. Scotland is a beautiful country with long ocean views and quiet beaches. Since the weather tends to be beautifully chilly, the beaches tend to be a perfect spot for a tranquil afternoons where you sit on the sand bundled up in your warm cardigan. The beautiful gray Scottish sky meeting the blue ocean was my inspiration for this color scheme.
*This color scheme is exclusive to our daily planner – we wanted our brand new daily planner to have more of a neutral color scheme so this color scheme is throughout the entire book.
